09/08/2021: We took an impromptu evening trip to the cabin spot to survey the bedrock that we intend to drill into. Using some surveying/levelling equipment, we measured each marked out drill point to determine its elevation difference relative to our highest drill point (i.e. the reference point). It was surprisingly easier than we thought it would be! 09/08/2021: All the markings from our last trip were still there!09/08/2021: We had a fair amount of rainfall prior to this trip, and we could see that it had pooled around one of our corner drill points. It is something to think about for the future of our cabin – how do we ensure that water doesn’t pool around here and potentially cause rotting in the post? For now, we think if we place moss around the area then that will absorb most of the water. It may also be that we have to drill into the rock and make a little outlet for the water, so it doesn’t pool.09/08/2021: It was a windy and ominous evening.
